Friends of El Corazon
The Friends of El Corazon, (FELC) was established in 2012. We are a non-profit group made up of a growing number of Oceanside, CA citizens that act as stewards of the developing El Corazon Park – a 450+ acre property found in the “heart” of Oceanside. The park’s master plan that was approved by voters more than a decade ago, includes 20 sports fields for kids of all ages, and a beautiful, multi-purpose Senior Center. The Master Plan also calls for a future Olympic-sized Aquatic Complex, walking and biking trails, a library, a hotel, a community of 300 new homes and some commercial space.
The Mission
The Mission of the Friends of El Corazon is to support the implementation of the El Corazon Specific Plan as stewards of the Park. Our goals are to ensure that:
- All development in the Park is consistent with the community’s vision
- The Park will be designed and operated for the benefit of the residents of Oceanside
- Community resources are available to support the development and operation of the park
- Outreach and education programs will be provided to engage the community
